Blog #2 Self Care - Sandra Cenatus

Lucky group 3 had the topic of self care. I had decided for us to pick that topic because most information on it for our subtopics would be easy to find and interesting. The other 2 topics were paying it forward and good eating. If we hadn't picked self care I more than likely could see ourselves doing good eating. Would’ve had some subtopics like dieting, food education, food habits just to name a few. Whereas paying it forward, it sounds like something with motivation. Having to uplift others or yourselfs, techniques to see the brighter side of things as the subtopics. Group 3 had 7 subtopics that corresponded with self care. It wasn’t necessarily hard picking them but it was easy and simple. The first subtopic was what I suggested, “Eating and going out to eat”. I specifically picked that subtopic because it was something that was interesting and easy to find research on. Simply because who doesn’t like food and going out to eat. The best part about this subtopic is that I had fun asking my friends for some advice and their point of view about food and the comfort it brings. I had used my friends Jason and Nisha who created voice messages that I added to my powerpoint slide. For the assignment, we had about five slides per subtopic. 2 slides to talk about the subtopic, which included some personal and googled facts about self care. The next slide was about the researched key points, key words, and the summary about what chapter that I chose. Lastly, topic research slide. I had Chapter 12: organizing your speech

Included the 2 choice of research from the list that was provided. “These are some of the topics to research while preparing your presentation: 1. Foundational research devoted to the topic and contributions from them, 2. American vs. world perspectives, 3. Local and national organizations offered to assist, 4. History/overview of the topic, 5. Family, teachers, clergy, business people, and others response and assistance. At least two interviews from the list above. In the powerpoint we also had to include a brochure of the topic that we chose.

The other topics were sleep, reducing stress, exercise, setting goals and priorities, success through preparation, and lastly meditation and prayer. We had an introduction and conclusion. With the subtopic of sleep, Jessie Diaz created it and the objective was “I will be explaining the impact of getting enough sleep and the diverse ways to help oneself to sleep properly.” her chapter topic was Chapter 14: Language and Oral Style Chapter 4: Verbal Messages. The next subtopic was from Samantha Suarez, reducing stress. Her objective was to “I will be describing different ways to reduce stress and the impact that stress has on our own body” with Chapter 4: Verbal Messages. Melany Valdez subtopic was exercise and the objective was I will explain the ways you can exercise to maintain self-care and the activities for your well-being, including physical growth. Self care through preparation, by David Vergara. His subtopic objective was “I will explain how preparing for goals helps with self-confidence and success.” and the chapter was chapter 12: organizing your speech. Oliver Irsula's subtopic was setting goals and priorities and his objectives was “I will explain how important it is to set goals and priorities to manage time to achieve success.”

Lastly the last subtopic was Meditation and prayer from Sebastian Roman. His objective was “I will explain how meditation is a powerful practice for alleviating stress and promoting well-being.” Our brochure was created by Jessie Diaz. The introduction was created by Jacquel Cineus and conclusion by Justin Rocha.
