Blog Post #2 - Jessie Diaz

During the time of February and March, the class SPC 10926, had another group project done but this time it would be about three different themes like; Good eating – “Heart, Mind and Body”, Self-Care: Work, Family, Sleep and Exercise, and Paying it Forward. What it does for you, including the Chapters! As much as it was like the other project from Week 3, in Group 3 we had to research Self-Care, and everyone had their own chapters as well to do which helped us all learn how to take care of ourselves the right way! I wanted to write down about my experiences again like I did with the other blog.

Like the last group project, we all had our own respectful group but this time our group 3 had to go first which was nerve-racking, but we were all able to pull there with the best slides we have worked on! All the groups did a wonderful job with all our projects, and I want to do my best to write down all that I saw with each group and their presentation.

Presentation 1, Self-Care: Work, Family, Sleep and Exercise, Group 3

This was our group and had worked on the importance of Self-Care! I had to research the Self-Care topic of sleep which was something I knew some about because of how my sleep is and how I wish to improve it and with the research I was able to do just that. The others in the group were able to do their own research as well and we all were able to stay in contact with each other for any help any of us needed and to make sure we were all on track. During the days of our presentation, we explained to the whole class about the theme and chapters, and everyone seemed to enjoy and understood our different ways of taking care of ourselves, which is what we wanted with all the research done! The chapters we did were about the importance of speech and the ways to organize it! Doing the chapters was the easiest part for us to do and we made sure to do as much research and reading about each chapter. Self-Care is important for everyone and should be taken seriously as shown in the presentation as well.

Presentation 2, Paying it Forward. What it does for you, Group 2

Group 2 had another very important theme which was Paying it Forward! This topic has always been very important to me and my family so I made sure to listen well to this presentation so I can learn more about it and do better. I loved seeing how creative the slides were and the research was shown so clean and was very understandable. From the presentation, I knew that they all worked hard on it even though sadly some people did not do some parts from their group. Those that did their work were able to present it very well and from the research they did you can tell they spent the month on it because of how clean and well written it was. Their chapters were about different speaking patterns and how to properly use each of them which really taught me how to do that better! Their work was creative, and their research was easy to learn and read, which was wonderful for the class! The theme of Pay it Forward even though some people in the world don’t do it, it is important to learn and to practice because kindness will always be returned to you and because it feels amazing doing so even if you get nothing in return.

Presentation 3, Good eating - “Heart, Mind, and Body”, Group 1

Group 1 was the last group to present their theme which was Good eating! This group I couldn’t watch the whole presentation, but they were still able to present it well with their research about the importance of eating good and taking care of your body by exercise and having a healthy diet and more! Their slides, like the rest of the groups, were very creative and well done and their research was impressive, and they taught it very well to the class. I was able to learn how I wanted to take care of myself with a good diet and some exercises I could do and what they do to help me with my future at the gym. They also taught the class about the difference in cultures with this topic, which was very interesting to learn, and I want to learn more about that as well, the difference in cultures and the difference in communication between each culture as well. Their chapters that they did were about how they can organize and present their points in communication from what I understood and about how hearing is different from listening and could be confusing. All the groups did very well with each theme and chapter and Group 1 did a very wonderful job with the presentation as well, like the others.

All the groups worked very hard in these presentations and the research within each of them. Learning and understanding these topics were very important for the whole class and I believe that we were all able to learn from each other and was able to also teach our professor which is always a plus! Everyone should do their research outside of the classroom and be able to apply each of these to their normal lives so that they could better themselves.
